YSCP Weekly Newsletter #1 Health and Physical Education Mr. Vincent Fadale ([email protected]) Physical Education What we’ve been doing? Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a great summer! I’m very excited to begin my 2nd year at YSCP! In our first week we discussed classroom expectations and rules for physical education class. Students in middle school have also began working on developing their soccer skills. The middle school students have also learned how to do a dynamic stretching warm-up and why it is better than a static warm-up. Elementary students have been learning tag games that help enhance cardiovascular endurance and spatial awareness. What we are going to do? Middle school students are continuing skill development and on to gameplay. They have all learned how to dribble, pass, shoot, throw-in, and punt a soccer ball. In gameplay we will discuss rules and strategies. Elementary students will work on skill development with an emphasis on dribbling and staying in control of a soccer ball. Health (Middle School) What we’ve been doing? In our first week we discussed classroom expectations, procedures on the syllabus, and handed out books. What we are going to do? 6th grade students will begin our unit on the human body. They will learning about the different levels of body organization and how different body systems work together to help our body function. 7th and 8th grade students will start our unit on the digestive system. They will learn about the 6 essential nutrients and how they are used in our body. |
