Health and Physical Education Mr. Vincent Fadale ([email protected]) Physical Education What we’ve been doing? K-2 students have continued dodging/fleeing games and are practicing locomotor movements. Locomotor movements include skipping, jumping, hopping, sliding, galloping, and running. Locomotor movements help younger students develop and refine coordination. The tag game we played this week was called “zombie tag”. 3-5 students have started throwing games. The game we played this week was called “hula huts.” This game helps students improve throwing accuracy, reaction time, and teamwork. 6-8th grade students have started their volleyball unit. What we are going to do? K-2 students will start throwing games when they return from break. 3-8 students will start their volleyball unit. Health (Middle School) What we’ve been doing? 6th grade students will continue working on their poster with their partner. 7-8th grade students will reflect on a unit from PE class. Students will write about strengths/weaknesses and how they could improve themselves to be a better athlete/teammate. Students will also reflect on how the activity is good for his or her personal health. What we are going to do? 6th grade students will continue working on their poster with their partner. 7-8th grade students will begin a project where they will use what they learned in the first trimester to create a nutrition plan. The student will play the role of a nutritionist and help his/her client reach his/her weight goal through healthy eating.
